The first time Xu Changxia met Jiang Yao, she was in the main hall. The young girl’s skin was as white as snow, and her captivating, misty almond eyes could steal one’s soul. The entire Jiang family gasped as they looked at her.
Only the man, dressed in a crisp military uniform and exuding a solemn air, stared at her with a gaze that was calm, indifferent, and utterly unmoved.
To repay a life-saving debt from the previous generation, and with Jiang Yao about to head to a battlefield where his fate was uncertain, the elders of both families urged the two to get engaged and register their marriage as soon as possible. Xu Changxia, shy and bashful, nodded in agreement.
The second time they met was on their engagement night. Xu Changxia waited for Jiang Yao under the lamplight for a long time, but he never entered the room.
After getting ready for bed, just as she was about to drift off, the man lay down beside her, bringing in a gust of cold air from outside. “What’s going on between you and Jiang Chi?”
Jiang Yao had always considered himself an upstanding and morally righteous man, yet by a strange twist of fate, he had ended up with his own future sister-in-law. For the sake of a single request from her, he allowed her to join him at the Xiaodao Military Compound.
Every time he returned, smelling the home-cooked food in the house and seeing the slender figure in thin clothes inside, a possessive desire gradually kindled in Jiang Yao’s eyes.
He wanted to claim her as his own, to make her completely and utterly his wife!

Xu Changxia held a secret in her heart: she had been reborn. In a few months, Jiang Yao would die in battle. She had to save him from that disaster before it happened.
